Description

Artist’s note: A cute picture of Chibi Princess Serenity. Sorry the picture is bigger than my scanner so I only took a photo of it. Anyway, I had fun with this. This idea I had for awhile. ^^

This is a lovely piece! You did a great job with the line art by mixing thick and thin lines together. I see a few places where it looked like you either had a hard time creating smooth lines, or you just weren't confident in your strokes. It's fairly unnoticeable unless someone really stares at it.

I adore the dress. You did a great job giving it flow and characteristics of it's own. You did a wonderful job creating a bit of texture with out you did the bottom frills.

The coloring you did was amazing! It's got that blocky look you'd expect from anything based on anime. Really beautiful graphed out with great highlight placement.

My main critic has to be the proportions. The head and neck just don't fit the body. It looks like you were going for a chibi style, but you just missed it. There's several ways to remedy this or avoid it in the future. You can downsize the head a bit to fit the body or scale the body up to fit the head. With how beautifully you did the head, I would say sizing up the body would be the best way to do it. Another thing you could have done was take out the collar bones and make the neck thinner. It would really bring home how vastly different the sizes are, but you'd be doing it in a more artistic way where you don't have this shocking drop off mid section. Right now with the neck as thick as it is, it really becomes jarring when you hit those collar bones and shoulders and see the size difference. (I'm not sure how well I got my point across here, sorry)

I'm a huge sucker for simple backgrounds that add a lot to the subject. You displayed that well with a good color and easy pattern. It's really cute and feels like you brought so much more out in this piece than just another fanart of Usagi. You also did a good job counter balancing all the yellow by going with a softer pink.

Overall a really good, strong piece. Keep up the great work!
